Old trend given a shake
Posted by: Phat Mama, 2-Oct-2008I was chatting with a friend the other day about her plans to do an exhibition of her mixed media paintings. She's disappointed that the galleries in the Klang Valley aren't keen on supporting non-Malaysian artists living in Malaysia to showcase their work. Several enquiries she made did not bear fruit. In my hope to keep her confidence going, I have, after our chat, been gathering information to help her out.
So I was quite pleased when another friend invited me to a function, which might be the answer to the other friend's problem.
The afternoon tea affair I attended had about 50 female guests. It was a specially-designed event for select guests to enjoy a day of pampering by beauty experts from Estee Lauder.

Guests were treated to an impressive selection of afternoon tea delicacies at the same time that they were given tips on beauty care, make-up application and even a hand massage.
On top of these there was also a mini exhibition cum sale on the latest enamel bangles marketed by Sherina Binwani.
The event, held at the Royal Suite of Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur located on the 30th floor, was hosted by the wife of the hotel manager, Rachael Borostyan. The brain behind the concept was her husband, Michael Borostyan.

What Michael plans to do is to revive the trend towards organizing events at smaller but intimate venues, a concept made famous in Kuala Lumpur about five years ago. The hotel's Royal Suite caters to this need.
The activities were spread throughout the suite, which has a spacious bedroom, a living area and a dining area. Guests who make a room-booking at the Royal Suite can also arrange for a sit-down dinner for 10 guests with food catered in-house while a free-and-easy function can accommodate more guests.
Organizing an event here is hassle-free as food is catered in-house with the best choices available according to your budget. And, you don't need to bother with cleaning-up after the party has ended as it will all be taken care of.
There is an endless choice of what you can organize at this venue - a family get-together, a product launch, a mini fashion show - all it takes is your imagination.
The afternoon ended on a high note for the women who went home with bagfuls of purchases on Estee Lauder's beauty and skin-care products, several pieces of Sherina's exclusive bangles and on top of that the chance to network and meet new acquaintances.

I think my friend would be happy to hear this good news. Now she doesn't have to wait for venue owners to approve her exhibition. All she needs is a few other activities to add to her showcase and she is on her way.
